Choose from 40 suites, all with picturesque views over the lush tropical garden or the turquoise blue ocean. Ensconce yourself in luxurious-styled spaces crafted from local materials, adorned with native artwork and housed under a traditional pitched Makuti roof.
If you need extra space to spread out, then select one of the nine expansive villas. Stretch out in the spacious living room, unwind in the privacy of your own massage area, rustle up a snack in your own kitchen, laze on the terrace overlooking the garden or just chill in the privacy of your very own swimming pool. Once you are comfortable, make the most of your amenities, pick your favourite drink from your personalised mini bar, freshen up under a solar heated shower, or lie back on the king sized four-poster colonial style beds.
Suites

All 40 suites have a spacious master bedroom, as well as a lounge and outside terrace or balcony. One can select from an Ocean Front, Sea View or Garden View Suite – all of which have a maximum occupancy of 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.
Villas

All 9 villas have their own private pool, in-room dining and massage area, kitchen facilities and terrace or balcony. The maximum occupancy is as follows: 3 Bedroom villas: 6 adults 4 Bedroom villas: 8 adults All Suites and Villas have Wireless Internet, which is included in the rate.

The Market Kitchen styled restaurant serves cosmopolitan fare, a gastronomic spread of crisp salads, cured meats, fresh seafood, bread straight from the oven, mouth-watering cheeses and desserts. Create your own culinary journey featuring organic produce and fresh, hand-picked ingredients from local growers.

The Jetty

Set al fresco on the shoreline of the Indian Ocean, where you can casually kick back with a refreshing cocktail, share succulent morsels of modern Arabic cuisine, freshly prepared mezze, draw on some shisha and gaze at the sunset. If you’re a bit of a chef yourself, ‘In Market’ lets you order and delivers your grocery list to your villa. Or if you prefer the pros to fire up the flames, then ‘Dial a Chef’ will create the masterpiece of your fancy in the privacy of your own villa kitchen.

Need a work out? Head to the outdoor gym and loosen up those travel-weary limbs on the running machine or flex those muscles on the cross-trainer.
Art gallery

Essque Zalu’s gallery aims to create a highly liquid ‘destination’ gallery space, to exhibit and promote very talented or unique African artists (and those artists who exhibit an African influence in their work) from the local, regional and international art scene.
A dedicated gallery space with art pieces which would include paintings, sculptures, models, artistic photographs and glassworks from local, regional and international artists. Zanzibar-based ‘unknowns’ and ‘established’ local artists are all showcased.
Aside from any art pieces on loan from galleries or private individuals, all pieces are available for purchase, with arrangements made for regional and international shipping. The gallery space is located above the lobby and occupies a 450sq.mt area.
Spa

Essque Zalu’s spa provides a peaceful, non-invasive and warm environment that makes it ideal for individuals seeking privacy, peace and quiet. Wellness has become a way of life and the ‘Zanzibar Spa’ prides itself on being able to create an unforgettable experience – and not just another day at a spa. Spa staff pay attention to all aspects of personal well-being in a holistic manner and believe in one-on-one therapeutic procedures, interaction and client care.
The carefully chosen unique signature treatments such as Spafari and VinAqua cater to both men and women and will take you on an expedition of pure indulgence! The exotic Spafari range must be experienced to get the full effect of the true spirit of Africa, and the VinAqua range utilizes some of the best and widest range of hydrotherapy facilities in the country.
Essque Zalu’s Spa has also perfected a treatment of European origin aptly termed the ‘sinfully scented hot wax wave massage’. This technique is like no other and therapists pride themselves on being one of the first in the country to implement it.

If you want, there are also a lot of fun activities and games you can do with your parents!
You can either have dinner with your parents, or meet your friends and Petit VIP coordinators in one of the restaurants and try the delicious dishes the Chefs create for you. After dinner, gather outside and get ready for a star-gazing evening with grilled marshmallows, crepes and music, or a movie night.
Essque Zalu’s team invites children to 3 special events every day!
Morning: 10 am to 12 noon Afternoon: 2 pm to 4 pm Evening: 7 pm to 9 pm Apart from these daily events, your child can be taken care of around the clock by one of the Petit VIP coordinators, who are specially trained in child care and children entertainment. Petit VIP offers innovative and creative fun activities for your children. Activities are always combined with education and entertainment. All daily events for children are complimentary.
The Petit VIP coordinators are available 24/7 upon request for a minimal fee.
Recreational Facilities

Looking for a thrill? Try your hand at any of the following watersport activities offered at Essque Zalu: Parasailing Jet– Ski Rental and Safari Water Skiing Wake boarding Ringos Banana Boat Fly-Fishing Or go on a deep sea fishing charter boat from Nungwi for a game fishing experience in the waters of Zanzibar. You will be aboard a well equipped fishing boat, with experienced crew. Come aboard and cath your own fish.
Prefer to just chill? Salute the sun with yoga at the ocean’s edge, languish in the grand infinity pool or indulge in a hydrotherapy treatment at the Spa.
